Destination Wedding Planning: Dos and Don’ts

Wedding Planning

Many people are asking how to plan a destination wedding after a year of socially distant, virtual, and micro weddings. Anywhere in the world can be a big deal for your wedding, whether you want to go big or go home.

If planning a wedding wasn’t hard enough already, try moving the whole thing to a different country! A destination wedding is an unforgettable experience for you, your future spouse, and all of your friends. But before you renew your passport, here are some useful things to do and not do.

Do: Treat Declined Invitees Especially

You should reassure guests who say “No” that you are not furious at them or trying to exclude them from celebrating. They can celebrate with you at a local engagement party, wedding send-off, or reception.

Don’t: Do This When Your Friends Aren’t Expecting It

Whether you’re traveling within the country or around the world, it can cost a lot. Giving people at least a year’s notice is polite, so they have time to save money and plan their time off. Giving two years’ notice is even better if most of your friends go to (and spend money on) a lot of weddings each year.

Most of the time, they’ll need to block off not only your wedding date but also a lot of time to travel before and after.

Do: Consider Exchange Rates And VAT

Traveling to a place where the dollar is stronger than the local currency sounds like a GREAT IDEA on paper. When planning a destination wedding, keep in mind that there may be fees and taxes for guests, such as those related to exchanging money.

Furthermore, there are fees for exchanging money at banks and sending money between countries. Dealing with foreign banks is likely to require you to pay processing fees. Avoid paying too many fees from your bank by choosing to make bigger payments less often if you can.

Do some study on the countries and Indian Wedding Decorator you’re thinking about going to, and set aside some money in your budget to reflect on these things.

Avoid: Wiring Money To A Foreign Seller Without A Contract

Do not do it at all. If sellers don’t usually need signed contracts where you’re going, make them make an exception and write something up for you. Before you send any money, double-check the wire directions and bank information.

If these details change at any point, you should make a video call with the main person you booked with to confirm the change in person.

Do: Arrange For A Site Visit

It would be best if you could do this before you book them. At the very least, learn as much as you can about the sellers before you book, or have a professional planner do it for you. Ask your venue or a vendor you know and trust for suggestions on the best sellers in their area. You don’t want any shocks!

Don’t: Make Plans Too Quickly

If you want to know how to plan a vacation wedding but don’t have much time, you might want to hire a planner who has worked abroad before. Language and cultural barriers can make it take longer to plan than normal.
